The difference two dollars can make. For many, it may not seem as if two dollars is much, but it can mean a hot meal and a safe warm bed when used by Union Gospel Mission of Sacramento. More than just a soup kitchen, Union Gospel Mission changes lives. Ever evening, more than 80 men sleep in addition to the women and children who find shelter also.
There are four primary ministries by the Union Gospel Mission: ministry to the homeless, food baskets, womens clothes closet, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs. Their goal through all programs is to show the love of Christ through feeding, clothing, and providing shelter to ease hunger and discomfort as well as to minister to the spirit of the person. Their scriptural theme is "For when I was hungry, you gave me food to eat, when I was thirsty, you gave me drink, when I was alone, you invited me in, and when I was naked you clothed me."
Every person who comes to the mission has a story. Trained volunteers listen, comfort, and give advice and Godly counsel, sharing the gospel to people who may not understand Christs love for them. To learn more about how YOU can help, visit the ministry online at
